Abstract:
Measurements are reported for the two Youngs moduli and the 3 Poissons ratios that characterize the elastic behavior of this transversely anisotropic material. Tensile test results signified an expansion in the a direction at right angles to the direction of the applied tensile stress in the a direction c direction contraction was of almost the same magnitude as the a direction tensile strain. Thermal conductivity in the c direction was measured for one sample of Boron Pyralloy between 188 and 1232 F. The wt of B content in samples taken from 3 tensile test specimens was 1.22, 1.41 and 0.53 for the tensile strengths psi 23,200, 18,970, and 20,300 respectively.
