Abstract:
A system for measuring small variations in film thickness was developed. The detector, alt ough origin lly developed for measuring surface erosion on a space vehicl , c lso be u e for accurate laboratory measureme s T y e use a radioactive r cer technique, monitor by a sci tillation cou ter co cted to a pulse height analyzer. For space vehicle application the use of a three-channel pulse height analyzer is particularly advantageou since it allows one to separate background ra ia io an electronic drift from the desired activity levels, while u i g only re C LEV L TELEM TRY POI TS. The fir de ctor o be flo n ill oni or the erosion of vacuum evaporated silver films approximately 100A thick. An accuracy of 3 is expected from the flight detectors. Author
