Tests were conducted 1 to determine if the infantry, self-propelled, 4.2-inch, XM106 mortar, is suitable for Army use under arctic winter conditions, and 2 to determine the effect of the increased weight of the mortar on the mobility of the vehicle in arctic terrain. It was concluded that a the mortar should be su table for such Army use when the deficiencies are corrected, and b the increased weight of the mortar had no significant effect on the mobility of the vehicle in arctic terrain.
