Abstract:
Efforts were made to improve the resistance of cement to absorption of moisture during storage. A 0.2 to 0.5 concentration of oleic acid incorporated in the cement provided the maximum protection. However, concretes and mortars made with oleic-acid-treated cement have excessive amounts of entrained air, which results in a reduction of compressive strength. No additive was found that would retain its ability to reduce the air content to an acceptable level. Author
