Abstract:
The present activity and history of an ice cliff on the E. margin of North Ice Cap near its junction with the main Greenland Ice Cap and of adjacent glaciers are deduced on the basis of detailed glaciological, meteorological, geomorphological, and botanical studies in the summers of 1955 and 1956. Detailed descriptions are given of the climatic, ablation, and runoff regimes of the glacier the motion of the icecliff surface, glacier surface, and base the structure of the ice, including physical properties, foliation and fracture, crystal distortion and englacial strain.
