Abstract:

The electoral college is used as an application for the theory of games and the use of the power index. It is a relatively large game and the exact calculation until recently has not been feasible. The results have some sociological, as well as mathematical, interest they are given for three different cases. Results demonstrate that there is a bias in favor of the large states as against the small of as much as five per cent on a pure mathematical basis solely.
