Abstract:
SIMPAC is a research tool for simulation. It offers the analyst and designer of systems a means of modeling a complex system and allows him to study the dynamics of a system without concern of the mechanics involved in using a digital computer for simulation. A great deal of research and analysis is being done which includes the construction and use of digital computer simulation models. SIMPAC is designed to implement these models, not to replace them. SIMPAC is not a model. It is something to use in building a model. Since it is impossible to predict the detailed characteristics of models people may want to build, SIMPAC provides great flexibility, the price of which is programming time the user must spend on implementation. One may construct with SIMPAC a highly parameterized model which may serve many or all of his diverse special purposes. For example, a general queueing model or a traffic flow model can be built which is easily manipulated by a non-programmer to fit many special situations in these areas. Author
