Abstract:
OSMOTIC PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS ON THREE ALKYL METHACRYLATE POLYMERS ARE DESCRIBED. These include an unfractionated polyn-docosyl methacrylate and samples of fractionated polyn-lauryl methacrylate and poly2-ethylbutyl methacrylate. Weight averagenumber average molecular wt. ratios ranged from about 10 for the unfractionated material to 1.5 - 2 for the fractionated samples. Osmotic second virial coefficients were obtained. From experimental M sub w and M sub n values, viscosity average molecular weights were estimated. Relations between viscosity and the various types of average molecular weights are described and discussed. Author
