An operation of the power supply over the entire range of loading, i.e., from zero to full load, overload and short-circuited output terminals, was attained employing two different methods. The system performed without damaging results under these conditions and would recycle after any faulty condition was removed. A choice between one technique that introduces passive components into the power circuit, and another that requires active components transistors in the control system arises. The problem of unsatisfactory regulation was solved by replacing the physically speed-limited ferromagnetic integrators by new type electronic circuits. The latter permitted a satisfactory open-loop regulation of the system over its entire range of input voltage regulation and loading.
