Abstract:

Work was concluded on improved piezoelectric ceramic band-pass filters and networks in the frequency range above 1 mc. Range of applicability of radial modes of vibration in piezoelectric ceramic disks was extended to 6 mc. Filters within the 1 to 6 mc range were packaged in the micro-module configuration with 3 or 5 resonators per section dependent on frequency. Sources of spurious responses in thickness expander disks were inve tigated theoretically and experimentally, and are shown to be attributable to higher overtones of the symmetric and asymmetric radial modes of vibration. Parameters affecting the behavior of dot-resonators were investigated and a degree of control was achieved. Simple filter sections, consisting of 3 dot-resonators and associated electrode interconnections, all on a single ceramic wafer, were fabricated in the 10.7 mc range. Author
