Abstract:
Studies were conducted on the preparation and characterization of hydrogen superoxide and superoxidizers such as NF2O2, NF2OONF2, ClF5 and Cl2O8. Electron spin resonance measurements on the H O3 product revealed the presence of a free radical HO2 which disappeared in the temperature range -130 to -120 C. Kinetic studies revealed that t e decomposition of the H O3 product was affected by phase transformations in the frozen matrix. The heat of crystallization of 50 wt H2O2-ice was determined calorimetrically to be 45 calg. The mechanism of peroxide formation from dissociated water vapor was investigated. The reactions of tetrafluorohydrazine with O3, O toms, NO dioxide, NO, Cl2O7 and ClF3 were investigated. Evidence for low temperature N-O-F-containing complexes was found. Author
