Abstract:

IT IS PROPOS D TO STUDY THE LUMINESCENCE OF THE LUNAR SURFACE MORE EXTENSIVELY ND WIT GREATER PHOTOMETRIC ACCURACY THAN WAS ACHIEVED PREVIOUSLY, AND TO MEASURE THE VARIATION OF POLARISATION OF MOONLIGHT AS A FUNCTION OF WAVELENGTH. A design study was made for a luminescence spectrometer and a description is given of completed instrument based on this esign. A prototype polarimeter was used with a 15-inch telescope o gain experience in this field the final instrument is now nearing completion. Experi en s re i progress o fi the most suitable electronic system for these instruments. It is expected that extensive astronomical observations will be carried out in the near future. Author
