Abstract:

Appropriately designed acceleration schedules were administered to three groups of ten cats each to determine if habituation, the reduction of nystagmus resulting from repeated angular acceleration, is specific to the direction ofACCELERATION USED TO PRODUCE IT. All testing was in total darkness and animals were maintained in a state of continuous arousal with d-amphetamine sulfate. It was found that habituation does not transfer, that nystagmus in the untested direction remains undiminished, and that a directional imbalance is the result. Author
