Abstract:
Fat emboli were found in the lungs of all goats that died from the effects of massive thigh trauma that included severe comminution of the femur. The intravascular fat was found in impressive amounts in a high percentage of the animals however, no changes were found in the lungs or other organs that could be attributed to the presence of fat emboli. There was no relation between the amount of embolic fat found in the lungs and the number of clostridial organisms that was found in the wound exudate. Author
