Identifiers EBIC, Ultra-Ebicon.A description is given of a method for assessing the relative advantages of return beam versus vidicon scan for different electron-bombardmentinduced-conductivity EBIC and photoconductivity PC targets. Use is made of an easily obtained experimentally determinable signal current versus beam current characteristic of the target. The conclusion is reached that present EBIC and PC materials are limited both by low electron absorptivity of the surface and by the fact that existing materials do not have high enough values of dark resistivity. From work on target scan parameters, the conclusion is drawn that 3 different modes of imaging in camera tubes utilizing EBIC and PC type targets are possible. A description is given of fabricated experimental EBIC tubes. Author
