Abstract:
The analysis of errors in predicting upper level wind speeds from speeds at a lower reference level by utilizing an unweighted predictor of varying averaging length and relative displacement in time is continued. Data were obtained by displacing a 50-ft mast 68, 152, and 225 meters from the Ace tower. These data were analyzed to determine the location producing the least prediction error. A study of the prediction of wind speed was made by using horizontal components at the reference level however, no improvement occurred in the prediction errors.
