Abstract:
Radar echoes were obtained from the planet Venus. More than 100 routine doppler observations of satellites were made and the reduced results sent to the Spacetrack organization. A series of observations of Sputnik III were made in conjunction with five other European stations and the results jointly analysed for ionospheric data. In the field of moon radar a continuing programme was started to study the ionosphere by means of the Faraday rotation observed in the returned signals. Experiments were also made to establish the feasability of a moon-echo communications system. Author
