Abstract:
A review is presented of experimental studies designed to evaluate the constant-ratio rule as a predictor of confusion patterns in recognition tasks. The rule makes satisfactory predictions of the confusability associated with multidimensional stimulus displays and with relatively large single dimensional displays. As a model of choice behavior, the usefulness of the rule was judged to be limited because of its sensitivity to re ponse bias. Author
