Abstract:

The materials, processes, and techniques utilized in the construction of helical, ten turn, precision variable resistors suitable for operation at ambient temperatures from -65 C to 175 C are discussed. These variable resistors are miniature 34 in. diameter by 1-916 in. long helical type ten turn, high temperature precision units. New materials and latest state-of-the-art techniques were incorporated to provide a rugged, reliable, precision variable resistor lending itself to efficient, repetitive production.
