Abstract:
Three isomeric pentane gases were exposed to Co-60 gamma rays and the hundred-electron-volt yields of the lower molecular-weight products were determined. The isomers studied were normal, iso-, and neopentane. The products formed from each isomer were H, ethane, acetylene, ethane, propene, propane, butenes, and butanes. Some of the radiolysis products were explained on the basis of free radical reactions and mechanisms. Author
