Abstract:
Phase-lock is a technique which is applied to phase coherent communication systems and which will effectively reduce the bandwidth of those systems. A first order telemeter shows a significant increase in range, as does a second order radar and a third order telemeter, when phase-lock circuitry is incorporated into the system. The magnitude of this range advantage is greatest in the low megacycle range of carrier frequencies. This advantage also depends on the characteristics of the transmitted wave and the equation of motion of the transmitting vehicle. Author
