Abstract:

The uccessful fabrication of an electron beam melted ingot and pressed and sintered bar of high purity Rhenium to thin gauge sheet is discussed. The effect of annealing conditions, worki g temperature, and other fabricating variables on the quality of finished sheet is reported. The most successful method of conversion was cold rolling of press d and sintered bars with intermediate process anneals in di sociated ammonia 3 parts hydrog 1 part nitrog n. This proc dure r sulted in thin gauge sheet of higher puri y than material processed from electron beam melted ingots. Author
