Abstract:

A tudy was made to assess the effect of insulin administration on the gastric secretion of potassium. Insulin failed to increase the amount of potassium that could be obtained from the stomach of normal dogs. The potassium level in the plasma was decreased by insulin. In the reatment of hyperkalemia by gastric aspiration, the addition of insulin to therapy would b of limited advantage. Author
