Abstract:

DESCRIPTORS Laminates, Temperature, Stresses, Thermal stresses, Thermal expansion, Filament wound construction. Iden ifi rs Mandrels. OL type rings were prep red on col m drel, maintained at room temperature, and a hot mandrel, maintained at cure temp ratur . A LL RI GS WERE PROCESSED AT TH SAME CURE SCHEDUL HOURS AT F. The results s ow n increase of 12.8 in the flexural streng h of the specimens woun on the hot mandrel over those wound on the cold mandrel. This may be attributed to the difference in coefficient of e p nsion between the man rel and the glass causing undue stress in the glass when the glass is wound on a cold mandrel a d then cured at 50 F.
