Abstract:

Comparison of data from tests made at normal room temperatures with data from tests conducted in the cold chamber at NCEL provided reasonable proof that cold feed-water alone was not responsible for marked reduction in vapor-compression distillation unit output. These tests showed that low ambient temperatures coupled with air movement increased heat losses and thereby reduced the fuel economy of such units to a marked degree. Author
