Contract NOrd-17980 The heat of the reaction, OBF3 yields 3 OBF, at 1200 K was derived at 140.2 or - 15 kcal. The value - 141 or - 5 kcalmole was established for the heat of formation for the gaseous OBF monomer at 298 K. Torsion-effusion measurements of the dissociation pressure of AlN from 1700 to 1900 K yielded a condensation coefficient of less than or equal to 0.002. The heat of formation of crystalline AlN at 298 K was calculated as -70.7 or - 2.5 kcalmole. A second law heat of vaporization of B2O3 was derived from vaporization studies from which heat of formation and entropy values were derived. Studies indicated that AlF3 and LiAlF4 mixtures vaporize to AlF3 and LiAlF4 gaseous molecules.
