A cycling unit was designed and built to perform the life cycle tests on the E-41 alarm battery. Considerable electrical trouble was experienced with the motor generator charging source. The initial battery capacities were lower than expected from our previous acceptance test data. This was traced to insufficient overcharge of the positive plate. In view of the fact that the attainment of complete charge of the positive plates after the capacity cycle could not be readily accomplished by extending the constant potential current. The batteries successfully passed the two hundred 200 charge - discharge cycles.
