Abstract:

Two experiments are described which were performed to measure the Bremsstrahlung output from thin and thick targets. Each experiment was performed to compare the experimental and theoretical results concerning the generation intensity. No calculation or measurements have appeared in the literature dealing with the absolute intensity of emission from very thin targets. On the other hand, many experiments have been performed which verify Kramers rule for thick targets except for very low bombarding energies 2-5 Kev.. One experiment, reported in the literature, indicated that the intensity was not described by Kramers rule between 1 and 2 Kev. The thin target experiment verified the computational procedures used to determine the flux output. The thick target experiment revealed that no significant departure from Kramers rule greater than an order of magnitude were apparent for electron bombarding energies between 2-5 Kev. Author
