SPARK STABILIZATION BY A GAS VORTEX. AD-228 775 Three experimental studies were conducted. The first demonstrated photographically the stabilization of a spark by a gas vortex during the initial phase of the electrical breakdown. A relatively thorough investigation of the radial pressure distribution in the vortex was conducted. A photographic study was carried out to give data on the expansion of the spark channel with time and to note if instabilities develop in the spark.
