Abstract:
IT IS SHOWN THAT WHEN A CUT-OFF IS IMPOSED ON Heisenbergs equilibrium spectrum the cut-off wave number cannot be assigned arbitrarily but must have the value k 3KH 8 .2 3 14 The energy spectrum is then of the form Ek 8 9KH k23 -53 for 0 k k and zero otherwise. The velocity and pressure correlations corresponding to this spectrum are then obtained. From these results it is then possible to determine the ratio of the mean-square pressure gradient to the mean-square viscous force. For KH 0.45, this ratio is found to have a value of about 30.
