Abstract:

The ratio of geostrophic drag coefficients CCa under various stability conditions is obtained as a function of Richardson number. A drag coefficient Cf is defined in relation to the mechanical mixing length, and its ratio to the actual drag coefficient C is related to the Richardson number. By using observational recent data on the normalized logarithmic wind shear of Monin-Obukhov one can obtain fCa.
