Abstract:

Many aromatic fluorine compounds can now be synthesized readily by an aryl Cl-KF exchange reaction. The development of this exchange reaction involved studies on 1 the activation of halogen atoms in aromatic systems 2 the use of organic solvents, especially dimethyl formamide and dimethyl sulfoxide, in the exchange reaction, 3 the mechanics of the reaction and 4 factors governing the choice of metallic fluoride. Public tions and lectures summarizing the results of this program are given. Author
