Abstract:

The distribution function of an electron gas in the presence of a constant electric field is found from the kinetic equation. The reactions of the electrons with each other including both far and near collisions and with plasma oscillations are taken into consideration. The relation between the moments in the Chapman-Cowling method and those derived from the Landau equation is established. The effect of plasma oscillations on electric conductivity is estimated. The limits of applicability of the Landau method are discussed. Author
