Abstract:

An attempt is being made to provide a detailed example of an adaptive system. A particular subclass of adaptive systems has been defined. This sub-class has been chosen so that it should possess some of the critical adaptive properties described in the informal paper. The specific, detailed rules for the iterative circuit computer underlying this class of adaptive systems are being worked out and set down. Theoretical properties for adaptive systems in general are being sought. Attempts are being made to obtain theorems applicable to the very general classes ofADAPTIVE SYSTEMS. One such attempt is the following using the iterative circuit computer characterization of adaptive systems, to determine the maximum learning which can be expected from an adaptive system as a function of the amounts of information provided from the environment.
