Abstract:

STABILITY OF FREQUENCY, ESPECIALLY SHORT-TERM STABILITY, IS A MATTER OF IMPORTANCE FOR A NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS. Considerable effort was put into the design of a measurement system to determine this stability to a high degree of precision. The measurement system is described and its sensitivity is presented along with test results. It is shown that the system has a sensitivity of about 3.85 parts in 10 to the 9th power when the sampling time is 0.008 second. The limitng factor of the sensitivity figure is shown to be the multiplier. Author
