Abstract:

The fluid mechanics of asymmetric free mixing regions are investigated by an integral method analysis, with emphasis on non-similar behavior stemming from the form of the initial profiles. Velocity distributions are calculated and presented for a steady, laminar, compressible, twodimensional wake for various values of the inviscid velocity ratio u1u2, where u is the axial velocity component evaluated at the outer edge of the viscous layer and 1 and 2 refer to the x1,y and x2,y coordinate systems, respectively.
