Abstract:

An effective low cost radiant gas method for brazing honeycomb sandwich was developed using small radiant burners. Thermal control and configurational flexibility inherent in the new brazing method permits great simplification in high temperature tooling, leading to lower product costs. In addition, the development of simplified panel assembly procedures provides a process which consistently furnishes metallurgically sound components from PH 15-7 Mo and A-286 which normally braze with difficulty.
