The electrostatic energy is represented as a function of the Fourier coefficients of the particle density and, with the coefficients as independent variables, the configuration integral is evaluated by direct integration. A zeroth order approximation is obtained in this fashion which approaches the correct value just in the cases of low temperagy is found smaller, by 29, than the familiar DebyeHuckel energy. Author
