Abstract:

Selected polyesters derived from trimethylol propane proved to be satisfactory base stock fluids from -65 F to bulk oil temperatures of 400 F, to 450 F, for advanced gas turbine engines. A combination inhibitor package consisting of 5-10-10 diphenylphenazasilane and phenyl alpha naphthylamine, was found to be most effective in these trimethylol propane fluids. The finished fluid formulations resulting from the above base fluids and additive combinations provided the necessary physical and chemical characteristics required for advanced gas turbine lubricants.
