Abstract:

A computer technique for plotting normalized pole figures is described and an illustration of the technique applied to data generated using Schulz reflection x-ray diffraction geometry is presented. The computer method enhances the accuracy of the x-ray data and is far less tedious than the usual manual methods of plotting normalized pole figures. Somewhat modified programs should be capable of utilizing data generated by other diffraction geometries commonly used in quantitative preferred orientation studies, thus the method is more versatile than a specialized, completely automatic pole figure plotter.
