Abstract:
A memory device is proposed which has a phosphor screen to permit the gunner of a recoilless weapon system to see the flash of the spotting round for a sufficient length of time to get on target a few seconds. The requirements of such a system are discussed. A background discussion of the theory of phosphorescence is given and, in the light of the facts presented, requirements are given for the phosphor material. Results of preliminary tests and future plans are also presented. Author
