Abstract:
Technical procedures are described which were employed in the basic design of a proposed family of standard regulated DC power supplies. Results of studies on the power transformer, the rectifier unit, the series regulator tube, the control amplifier and the output capacitor, are discussed. In addition to the individual unit studies, a detailed discussion of the 300 volt, 300 milliampere member of the power supply family is presented. Initial environmental tests including vibration, temperature, humidity, shock, and salt spray are described. Design of the complete family of regulated power supplies is discussed. This discussion includes electrical design variations between individual members of the family. Mechanical construction methods are also covered. Included are unique problems found in modular construction. Author
