Abstract:

The operating envelope of a large twin-engined STOL aircraft has been examined and general limitations have been pointed out which the pilot must consider when choosing a minimum landing approach speed for STOL aircraft. The significance of satisfactory stability and control characteristics in this regard is discussed. The problems reviewed in the report would also be representative of those of a large, over-loaded VTOL aircraft operating in an STOL manner. Author
