Abstract:

An explanation is given of procedures used in the measurement and analysis of electromagnetic energy inadvertently delivered to electroexplosive devices tested at the Naval Weapons Laboratory, Dahlgren, Virginia. The hazards of electromagnetic radiation to ordnance devices are associated with the radiated power transmitted from antennas, environmental field strength magnitudes, RF voltage picked up by exposed firing cables, the RF impedance of the firing circuit, and the terminating impedance of the circuit. It was concluded that a possibly hazardous condition existed in the CAD area at the Naval Weapons Laboratory. Author
