Abstract:

The results of a parametric study on the effectiveness of cluster weapons against area targets, where an area target consists of a large number of units distributed over an area e.g., a battalion of troops in the field are presented. The effects of number of bomblets, delivery error, ammunition dispersion, and warhead effectiveness are considered. The results of the study are presented in handbook form so that one may quickly determine the effectiveness of any proposed cluster weapon, once specific values have been assigned to the above parameters.
