Abstract:

The scope of these programs is to generate the flow field about blunt-nosed axisymmetric bodies of revolution in hypersonic flight, including the effect of gas dissociation and vibrational excitation. The flow field about the subject category of bodies includes a subsonic and a supersonic portion. The calculations proceed by an inverse method prescribed shock in the subsonic region, and by characteristic procedures in the supersonic region. For a given body shape, the subsonic region is determined first by iteration the numerical analysis is then continued in the supersonic region for the prescribed body shape. The equations which constitute the analysis which has been programmed, are included for descriptive purposes.
