Abstract:

This vertical-attitude airplane, which is powered by a single turbojet engine, has a triangular wing mounted high on the fuselage with a triangular tail on top of the wing and has no horizontal tail. The airplane has conventional elevon and rudder controls for use in normal flight and has jet-reaction controls for use in hovering and at low airspeeds. The investigation included stability and control flight tests of the basic model configuration and also included a study of the effects of engine gyroscopic moments on stability and control. Author
