An experimental method of metal extrusion by high-pressure liquids is reported. In the preliminary experiments ten liquids were liquids were tested as pressure-transmitting media for the extrusion of AD1 commercial-grade aluminum 99.3 Al, 0.75 Fe Si Cu. The results of these experiments are presented. Water produced the best results. Extrusion pressures for a number of metals and alloys are presented. Extrusion by liquid requires a much lower pressure than extrusion by conventional methods high-pressure liquid extrusion of aluminum with 90 reduction requires 4500 kgsw cm, compared to 18,000 kgsq cm for the conventional method. Extrusion with high-pressure liquid also improves mechanical properties. Author
