Abstract:

Informal exploratory studies were conducted in two areas. The first was concerned with developing techniques for improving group instruction and the second was concerned with investigating the potentialities inherent in the relatively recent techniques being developed for individual automated instruction. The observations which were made during the exploratory investigations point up several problem areas in need of solution before automated instructional methods can be practicably implementable. These problems are not unique to these particular instructional methods, but the extreme precision and control over the learning process afforded by automated instructional methods makes the solution of these problems ever more urgent.
