The patent relates to a composition having utility in the removal of paints from metals. More particularly, it relates to the inclusion of a small amount of sodium or potassium stannate in a metal paint-removing composition to inhibit the corrosion of aluminum or alloys thereof. Unlike some other corrosion inhibitors it is nontoxic to wildlife when discharged in effluent streams and waterways.
